John Robbins is the author of  HEALTHY AT 100: The Scientifically Proven Secrets of the World’s Healthiest and Longest-Lived Peoples, among other successful titles. His work has been the subject of cover stories and feature articles in The San Francisco Chronicle, The Los Angeles Times, Chicago Life, The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Philadelphia Inquirer,  and many of the nation’s other major newspapers and magazines.

John has been a featured and keynote speaker at major conferences sponsored by Physicians for Social Responsibility, Beyond War, Oxfam, the Sierra Club, the Humane Society of the United States, the United Nations Environmental Program, UNICEF, and many other organizations dedicated to creating a healthy, just, and sustainable way of life.  He is the recipient of the Rachel Carson Award, the Albert Schweitzer Humanitarian Award, and the Peace Abbey’s Courage of Conscience Award.

John serves on the Boards of many non-profit groups working toward a thriving, just, and sustainable way of life.  He is the Founder and Board Chair Emeritus of EarthSave International (earthsave.org), an organization dedicated to healthy food choices, preservation of the environment, and a more compassionate world.  John is also the Board Chair of YES! (yesworld.org), which educates, inspires and empowers young leaders to take positive action for all life on Earth.

Professor Sohail Inayatullah is a political scientist/futurist associated with Tamkang University, Taiwan and the University of the Sunshine Coast. He also co-teaches an annual course titled Futures thinking and strategy development at Mt Eliza Executive Education, Melbourne Business School.

He has authored/edited  twenty nine books, journal special issues and cdroms with titles such as Questioning the Future; Youth Futures, Macrohistory and Macrohistorians; Ageing, City Futures, Anticipatory Action Learning and  the University in Transformation.

In the past year, among other groups, he has addressed the Australian Federal Police; the World Congress of Health Professionals; Queensland Health Nursing Conference; the Australian Government Department of Veterans’ Association; Ernst and Young; Australia Bio-security; the Global Knowledge Conference; the Office of the Prime Minister, Singapore; the Indonesia 2014 and Beyond Forum; the Western Australia Department of the Premier and Cabinet (E-government); Queensland Government Department of Main Roads; and Gold Coast City Council.

Chair of the Christian Vegetarian Association, Cochair of the Medical Research Modernization Committee  and president of Vegetarian Advocates, Steve has coauthored (with Nathan Braun) of Good News for All Creation: Vegetarianism as Christian Stewardship, and authored, Guided by the Faith of Christ: Seeking to Stop Violence and Scapegoating.

He is an Associate Professor in the Dept. of Ophthalmology of Case School of Medicine and has several articles in the medical literature, has published articles and letters on animal experimentation and animal protectionism in the medical and non-medical literature, including an article with Neal Barnard entitled Animal Experimentation is Wasteful and Misleading in the Feb 1997 issue of Scientific American and also Does Vivisection Pass the Utilitarian Test? in Public Affairs Quarterly.

From Sweden, Mr. Holm occupies a seat at the European Parliament, is a member of the delegation to the Africa Caribbean Pacific – European Union Parliamentary Assembly and serves on the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety as well as the Temporary Committee on Climate Change.

With an academic background is in sociology, Jens Holm has been a successful freelance journalist, an investigative journalist for the Swedish Animal Rights Society and has worked in Stockholm’s social welfare department. He has also authored books and documentaries that focus on environmental  and animal trading issues.

The scientific adviser for VCA, Noam Mohr is a physicist at Queens College, with degrees from Yale University and the University of Pennsylvania. He has worked on global warming and animal protection campaigns for the U.S. Public Interest Research Group, The Humane Society of the United States, EarthSave International, and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. He has published a number of reports on climate change widely covered in the media, including Flirting With Disaster, Pumping Up the Price, Storm Warning, and A New Global Warming Strategy. He has appeared numerous times on television, in film, and on the radio. He has written regulatory standards for U.S. and foreign governments. He has consulted for major international corporations. He has run successful lobbying campaigns to enact state laws. He also serves as Vice President of Jewish Vegetarians of North America.

Andrew Bartlett

Andrew Bartlett was a Senator representing the state of Queensland in the Australian Parliament for over 10 years.  He has been a community activist and organiser in and around the city of Brisbane for many years, being involved in a range of organisations in areas such as housing, refugee and migrant rights, Indigenous issues, animal rights and the environment.  He is currently working as research fellow in migration law at the Australian National University and a multicultural advocate for the Ethnic Communities Council of Queensland.  He also serves on the executive of a range of organisations that work in the areas of migrant and human rights, and is a former President and current patron of the Vegetarian/Vegan Society of Queensland.

sonja-lewandowskiDr. Sonja Lewandowski

Although Dr Lewandowski’s formal training was as a dietician at the University of Cape Town, the research which she performed for her PhD and as a Postdoctoral Fellow, has straddled other disciplines including Chemistry and Microbiology. Her success in these areas resulted in Young Scientist awards on more than one occasion in both National and International Conferences and published papers in refereed journals, one of these papers being an invited review.

The last two years she worked in Munich, Germany as a dietician in private practice focusing on nutrition and lifestyle diseases, sustainable lifestyles and prevention. Dr Lewandowski also gave public lectures and most recently took part at the International Vegetarian Congress giving a presentation on how to implement vegan lunches at schools and preschools in addition to practical lunch box ideas.

Dr Sonja Lewandowski’s main focus and interest lies in how vegetarianism can help us to become healthier and most importantly how it can positively affect our environment.

Helmut F. Kaplan is an Austrian philosopher and author. He holds a PhD in psychology and an M.A. in philosophy and has written more than a dozen books on animal rights ethics and general philosophy as well as 300 other publications.

One of his first books, “Leichenschmaus. Ethische Gründe für eine vegetarische Ernährung” (“Funeral Banquet. Ethical Reasons for a Vegetarian Diet”) was published in 1993, at a time when there was still very little known about vegetarianism and animal rights in the German-speaking countries. It was both a bestseller and a longseller.

Dr. Kaplan has given many public lectures and appeared on numerous talkshows. Interviews with him and reviews of his work etc. have appeared in major German and Swiss papers, such as “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung”, “Neue Züricher Zeitung”, “Focus”, “Stern” und “Die Zeit”.

One main focus of Helmut F. Kaplan’s work is to formulate simple ethical rules of conduct that are understandable and applicable for people from all walks of life. He states that we do not need a new kind of morality: all we have to do is include animals in our already existing morality. Helmut F. Kaplan believes that veganism is the ideal kind of nutrition for humankind, and that in campagning for a cruelty-free world we should emphasize all of its multifold advantages, including its benefits for our health and the environment.

Anthony MarrAnthony Marr

Anthony Marr has a science degree (physics) and is the author of “Omni-Science and the Human Destiny” (2003) and “Homo Sapiens! SAVE YOUR EARTH” (2008). A full-time wildlife preservationist and anti-hunting activist since 1995, he has cleaned up North American Chinatowns of traditional medicines containing endangered species ingredients, been to India 3 times for the Bengal tiger, to Japan twice for the whales and dolphins, fought high profile battles against recreational trophy hunting in N. America and the horrendous seal massacre in Canada, as well as conducted six Compassion for Animals Road Expeditions (CARE tours) each covering 25-44 U.S. states over 3-7 months.

He founded Heal Our Planet Earth (HOPE) in 1999 and is the leader of HOPE’s Global Emergency Operation (GEO) on climate change and mass extinction, which will take him through 25 countries in 5 continents over the next 4 years.

Mark Gessat, studied Social Studies and East Asian Studies at the University of Duisburg-Essen. His thesis is titled “The Clean Development Mechanism as an Incentive for Foreign Direct Investment in China”. From September 2005 to August 2006, Mr. Gessat studied at National Taiwan University with a scholarship granted by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), funded by the Ministry of Education.

Currently working on a Ph. D., Mark is examining a  phenomenon known as religious environmentalism that has taken place on a global scale.

Dawn Moncrief is the director of Well-Fed World, a campaign promoting the benefits of sustainable, plant-based solutions to global food security and environmental concerns.  Her focus is on the detrimental effects of animal agriculture on world hunger, especially women in less-developed countries. She advocates reducing global meat consumption as a critical part of solutions for helping the world’s hungry and reducing global warming–as well as the best practice to improve health, protect the environment, and care for animals.  She has worked in the nonprofit sector since 1994 and has two Master’s degrees from The George Washington University: one in International Relations specializing in economic development, the other specializing in women-in-development.

Alex Hershaft is the founder of the Vegetarian Information Service in 1976 and FARM (Farm Animal Rights Movement) in 1982. He launched World Farm Animals Day in 1983, the Great American Meatout in 1985, Gentle Thanksgiving in 1990, and he’s organized 17 national animal rights conferences. He is a member of the Vegetarian and the Animal Rights Hall of Fame. He describes himself as a “late bloomer,” having accomplished all this after earning a Ph.D. in chemistry and devoting nearly 30 years to science research and consulting.

After finishing his studies in computer sciences, Renato Pichler got involved in founding the Swiss Union for Vegetarianism [www.vegetarismus.ch], an organisation of which he is the President. He has been on the board of the European Vegetarian Union (EVU) since 1997 and since 2005 has been the president. He initiated the V-Label Project which identifies vegetarian and vegan products and vegetarian-friendly restaurants . Today, the V-label has already been introducted in many European countries (and is also used in the Veg Cliamte Alliance logo!). Renato strongly believes that a world without slaughter will also be a more peaceful world – an aim to which he dedicates all his efforts.
